KINDERGARTEN PHILOSOPHY Clifton Children’s Academy has created an environment dedicated to educating and nurturing the mind and spirit of girls and boys in kindergarten. Embracing the belief that each individual has unique self-worth, we seek students of diverse cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds --- students of ability and promise whose qualities of mind and heart indicate that they will thrive in an atmosphere of intellectual and creative vitality intended to foster strength of character and concern for others. We offer our students a challenging curriculum and a vigorous learning environment built on rigorous educational and ethical standards. Our goal is to develop in our students a combination of independent thinking and personal confidence, complemented by openness to the ideas of others and a spirit of compassion and generosity. Our character development program focuses on these qualities and the continual evolvement of children as kind and empathetic human beings. We encourage our students to inquire, to challenge, and to be adventurous, yet to appreciate moments of solitude and quiet reflection. We strive to be sensitive to differences in learning styles and developmental needs. Above all else, we seek to nourish in all our students that genuine love of learning that will enrich them and assist their efforts to engage thoughtfully and responsibly with others throughout their lives. From their first days in kindergarten, CCA students learn to enjoy and appreciate their achievements. Learning to read, beginning simple addition, mastering a new computer program, or trying to capture what they know in a drawing or a song can be as demanding a task as any they will pursue in their lives. We seek to ensure that these efforts and accomplishments are filled with deep pleasure and joy. CCA strives to see each student as both a member of a community and a unique and developing personality. In doing so, we stimulate, challenge, and inspire students to explore the world around them and to discover their place in it. The regular study of language arts, mathematics, science, history and social studies, computer skills, foreign language and character development assist in establishing that discovery. The ease with which the children ask questions and the assurance with which they move through their day show how well our teachers achieve their goals. |
