We have covered a lot of territory since the opening of school. September breezed by with lots of talk of rules, manners and the senses. With the new season came all this talk about deciduous and evergreen trees, I hope you all had these terms explained to you! Next, we covered the extremes of transportation, talking about the early forms (your Tigers know which was the first kind) as well as the newest and most far reaching kinds. What a good time we had incorporating Christopher Columbus and his historic journey into our units on transportation and map skills. Finally, the month will close with our Halloween celebration and brown bag lunch. The best part of all will be going to the Lewinsville Center and having a pre-Halloween party with the senior citizens!!

November and December bring the start of the holidays. Thanksgiving is a time to look at sharing and friendships as well as Pilgrims and Native American customs. Our preschool feast is always a highlight of our unit. We will continue our theme of holidays in December, with a look at different celebrations from around the world. We are so lucky to be able to draw upon the many families of the children enrolled at MCA to help us learn about the different countries they represent. This experience always brings us closer together as we are able to share in and understand the celebrations of others. We will end the year with a look at winter and how animals prepare for this season.
