Our theme for our fun-filled summer will be Art Around the World.
Our first session will introduce Europe. We will learn about the varied cultures through the eyes of the artists of the region. Our main focus will be on the countries of France, England and Italy. We’ll then travel to the Americas where we'll explore South American artists; then during the week of July 4th we'll learn about artists from the United States. Finally, we will cross the border to visit our northern neighbors in Canada. Then we'll take a 'big trip' to Asia. Here we will concentrate on the countries of China, Japan and Korea. Our final session will take us to the continent of Africa. There we will explore the artists of Nigeria and South Africa. Finally, we will conclude our fun filled summer with a week of 'Art Exploration.' We will continue to experiment with all the media we have learned about all summer. We'll paint, draw, collage, sculpt and even construct some fabulous art projects of our own. The children will have an opportunity to splatter paint like Jackson Pollack did or to paint the "ceiling of the Sistine Chapel" or even sculpt "The Thinker." Each day we will learn about the region we are focused on through art, cooking, geography and science. In addition to our individual passports, we will plot our fantastic voyage on a world map so that the children may have a visual reference of our location in each region. |

Throughout the summer we will enjoy picnic lunches and relaxed outdoor play. The children will also "explore" our garden for planting adventures.
Each week will be complete in itself, as we delve into the "fun" side of Art Around the World. What an exciting and unique way to stretch the inquisitive and creative sides our children possess. And especially, each week will be filled with FUN! FUN! FUN! |
